You must be on my sister’s email list because you and she sent me the same email, just a couple of days apart. What a coincidence! Did I ever tell you about my sister Ramonda? She can accomplish more things in less time than anyone I know. I told her she ought to be governor, as good as she is at running things. She’s so efficient that being governor would be just a part time job for her. But both of you need a researcher…a fact-checker…if you’re going to spend your time sending out emails to save America from Obama.

Here’s the beginning of the chain email both of you sent me….

Why do you need a fact-checker? Because the whole “Disturbing” email was a fake, a scam, a few truths, but a lot of lies. All of the Biblical references were wrong. (Both of you know the Bible well enough to know there’s no anti-Christ in Revelations? The only two places to find references to the anti-Christ are the first and second letters of James.) du-uh.

But the thing that really made me laugh was the list of things those scary Muslims have done—like killing Bobby Kennedy.

Wrong-O.

Robert F. Kennedy was gunned down by Sirhan Sirhan (at least he was the one convicted of it and still serving a life sentence.) Sirhan was born to a Christian family in the Christian section of Palestine. He was raised in the Maronite Church. It is true that he changed religions as an adult—he became a Baptist. (So did John McCain a few weeks ago.)

Your email’s purpose was to show that Obama was unfit to be President because he was a Muslim (which he isn’t)…and a Muslim killed Bobby Kennedy.

But let’s not even argue the point. Let’s just extend it to its logical conclusion.

The man who killed Bobby Kennedy was a Baptist. John McCain is a Baptist. So there you go. McCain is unfit to be president.

(In the interest of full disclosure, McCain was an Episcopalian for most of his life, but he publicly declared last month that he is a Baptist now, though he refuses to be baptized. And, though Sirhan Sirhan did become a Baptist, he may have changed again by the time he shot Kennedy, because he also dabbled in Seventh-Day Adventist-ism.)

By the way, your email starts and ends with a lie, falsehood, mistake…whatever you want to call it. Here’s the ending:

Earth to Mama and Ramonda and all the people on your mailing lists: Obama is not an extremist…not a Muslim….and not between the ages of 17 and 40. He’s 47.

If you get any more of those chain emails, send them to me. I’ll be happy to take a few seconds to debunk them. Again, it’s not because I’m trying to get your vote. I’m just trying to get your smile. (You do smile when you’ve been “had,” don’t you?)
